And the award for best vampires goes to....

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES!!!!

Sorry Twilight and your oh-so-terrible, make-me-cringe acting. Twilight is just a disaster all around. The books were never that good, but they were a nice guilty pleasure read which I can no longer enjoy. Now if I even try to read them all I see is Kristen Stewart's horrific performance. She really is the worst actress of all time!

Sorry Trueblood... where you are a pretty good show and in most ways a good adaptation of the book series, the casting of main character Sookie Stackhouse and her awful southern accent makes it a little hard for me to watch. Plus, while this is not your fault, since I have read the books the excitement of the series just isn't there for me. You can't have cliffhangers between episodes when the viewer knows what is going to happen.

Now, The Vampire Diaries have succeeded where these other two have failed. The casting is excellent and acting is spot on. These actors truly shine when portraying their alter characters. Specifically the lead lady. She plays both a normal human teenager as well as a vindictive vampire. Both her performances are fabulous.

Plus the characters are more intriguing then a wallowing helpless human girl in love with a troubled protective vampire. Blah blah blah. It's nice to see a couple that seems very in love, but where their entire life is not the other person. Each is strong individual. Plus the "evil brother" that you can't help but love adds so much to the plot line.

Each episode not only is entertaining but adds more to the story, gets you deeper into the characters and their relationships and leaves you wanting more. A true testament to a TV show is the level of excitement you feel after a week when you see the next new episode. Are you ok with just recording it and getting to it when you have some free time? Or do deal with the commercials because you are so excited you have to watch it in real time. The Vampire Diaries is a "real time" TV show for me. I can not wait for the next season to start!!! I think this and Glee are going to replace the void that Lost has left in me. Is it September yet??
